JOHANNESBURG - A South African businessman has been provisionally charged in a Mauritian court for the murder of his girlfriend.

Lee-Anne Palmarozza's body was found floating in a luxury resort pool two weeks ago.

According to the Sunday Times Peter Roberts is set to appear in court again this week and intends bringing a bail application.

The Johannesburg businessman is currently in custody in Mauritius.

Robert's lawyer told the Sunday Times the legal system in Mauritius differs from South Africa and a person may be charged provisionally even though the investigation has not been concluded.

35-year-old Palmarozza was visiting Roberts on the island. Her body was discovered by her boyfriend and it was alleged she had multiple bruises.
