JOHANNESBURG - Police say they have made a breakthrough in an investigation in the murder and attempted murder of an elderly couple in Muldersdrift.

Three men have been arrested after they were found with stolen items connecting them to the murder of 61-year-old Charles Henderson and the attempted murder of his wife Jenny during a house robbery.

The Hendersons were attacked at their home last week.

It is alleged that the three suspects are connected to a gang who have been involved in various house robberies in Muldersdrift.

Police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini says the men will appear in court tomorrow.

"They were attacked during a house robbery, three suspects have been arrested, and stolen goods including three firearms, a laptop, a camera, cell phones and binoculars have been recovered."
