The man was arrested following the discovery of six bodies in the area.
CAPE TOWN - Police are investigating the possibility that a rape and murder suspect could be connected to a series of bodies discovered in Kensington last year.
Police say the man was taken in for questioning on Wednesday in connection with a spate of incidents in the Cape Peninsula over the past few months.
A total of six bodies were discovered in a bushy area along Acre Road near the Century City train station last year.
The last victim's body was discovered in a bushy area near Acre Road while police were conducting an ongoing investigation in the vicinity.
Nearby communities feared a serial killer was on the loose.
Western Cape Police Commissioner Arno Lamoer says the suspect's due in court on Monday.
"What we stated very clearly is that a person was taken in for questioning and he is being investigated for possible murders and possible rapes."
Last year, Cape Town Mayor Patricia de Lille offered a reward of R50,000 for any information that could help the police track down a suspect.
