JOHANNESBURG - Bafana Bafana started their preparations for Afcon 2015 with an entertaining 1-0 victory over Zambia, in a friendly clash at the Orlando Stadium.

A lively opening half saw both sides fail to test the either goalkeeper enough, let down by the final touch in most instances.

The second half continued in the same pattern, with Bafana captain for the day Anele Ngcongca at the end of Bafana's best chance up till that point, but denied by the goalkeeper.

Not long after though, Thuso Phala, who had come off the bench and troubled Chipolopolo with his pace, scored from a great pass by another substitute, Bernard Parker.

While more chances were created, none were taken as Shakes Mashaba started 2015 with a victory, and momentum which will be key in Equatorial Guinea.

Bafana are in the 'group of death' at Afcon 2015, alongside the highest ranked nation in Africa Algeria, Ghana, and Senegal.
