Celebrities we said goodbye to in 2014

CAPE TOWN - In 2014 the entertainment world said goodbye to some of the best and most memorable personalities in the industry.

Among the stars to pass away included Robin Williams, Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Shirley Temple.

Sharp-tongued comedian Joan Rivers died in September at the age of 81. The celebrated television personality was rushed to hospital after experiencing complications from a throat procedure.

One of the most shocking deaths of the year came when Williams took his own life in August.

In May world-renowned American author and poet Maya Angelou died at the age of 86.

The world also mourned the death of Bob Geldof's daughter Peaches who died from a drug overdose.

Joe Cocker also died at the age of 70 following a battle with lung cancer.

Well-known fashion design legend Oscar de la Renta joined that catwalk in the sky.
