WC traffic authorities on high alert
Traffic officials have been dispatched to popular holiday spots ahead of New Year’s celebrations.
CAPE TOWN - Western Cape traffic authorities say they have deployed a full staff complement to coastal pressure points ahead of the New Year's holiday influx.
Following a spike in visitors along the Garden Route, officials have been dispatched to popular holiday spots, including Mossel Bay, Hermanus and Strand.
Since the start of the month 112 fatalities have been reported, with speedsters and drivers taking unnecessary risks remaining the biggest concerns.
Provincial traffic Chief Kenny Africa says officers are on high alert.
"They are in full force out there and we will make sure we take drunken drivers and negligent drivers off the roads," says Africa.
