Hero's welcome for SA's Miss World
Wearing a sparkling diamond crown and her miss world sash, Rolene Strauss waved and smiled at the audience.
JOHANNESBURG - South Africans from all walks of life gathered at the OR Tambo International Airport to welcome home Miss World Rolene Strauss.
The crowd was singing and dancing with placards in front of the arrivals terminal.
Strauss is the third South African to win the Miss World title in 40 years.
Previous winners are Penelope Anne Coelen, in 1958 and Anneline Kriel, who took the crown in 1974.
The audience covering every square inch of the arrivals terminal went wild when the new miss world walked through the doors.
Wearing a sparkling diamond crown and her miss world sash, the fourth year medical student waved and smiled at the audience holding welcome home posters and flowers.
The former Miss South Africa says the crown is for South Africa and she is walking alongside every citizen.
