JOHANNESBURG - Amid concerns about the growing market for stolen goods, Police Minister Nathi Nhleko has launched a campaign to raise awareness about the problem.

The campaign, which was launched in Mpumalanga on Wednesday, aims to discourage citizens from assisting criminals by buying the goods.

Nhleko called on South Africans to strive to create a decent society and committed himself to assisting the youth and unemployed people to be productive instead of turning to crime.

The minister says his department has already identified problem areas.

"We need to do some work in terms of what else needs to be done. It is everybody's responsibility."
