Meyiwa, Ebola tops Google’s search report

More South Africans entered Google searches for Meyiwa than for Pistorius.

CAPE TOWN - Slain Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa, Ebola, Robin Williams and Oscar Pistorius topped the list of trending search terms on Google South Africa this year.

Google released its 2014 Year in Search report.

More South Africans entered Google searches for Meyiwa than for Pistorius.

Searches for Meyiwa led the overall chart this year followed by Ebola and the death of Williams.

Pistorius ranked fourth, but his televised murder trial topped Google's list of current affairs searches.

The disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight MH 370, South Africa's general elections and the Nkandla report also featured in the top 10 of current affairs searches.

Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema was the most searched politician.
