YCL congress concludes without a hitch
New chairperson Yershen Pillay has nothing but praise for new National Secretary Mluleki Dlelanga.
CAPE TOWN - The Young Communist League (YCL)'s national congress has concluded without a hitch.
It was not the case in 2010 when police had to be called in when chaos broke out between delegates at the elective congress.
The league was split between those who supported then National Secretary Buti Manamela and those who supported his deputy.
New chairperson Yershen Pillay has nothing but praise for Mluleki Dlelanga, who takes over from Buti Manamela as national secretary.
"Comrade Mluleki Dlelanga, from the Eastern Cape, is one of our most disciplined, loyal, hardworking, communists we have in the YCL."
At a media briefing earlier today, Dlelanga was adamant the YCL will remain what he called a fighting force in the struggle for socialism.
The league's also voiced its support for the ANC saying it'll mobilise all members to ensure a victory for the ruling party at polls in 2016.
