Gauteng govt committed to building 5,700 RDP homes
David Makhura & Jacob Mamabolo yesterday handed over almost 300 houses to the residents of Lady Selbourne.
JOHANNESBURG - The Gauteng government says it is committed to building over 5,700 Reconstruction and Development Programme (RDP) houses and dealing with corrupt officials using waiting lists.
Gauteng Premier David Makhura and Gauteng MEC for Human Settlements, Jacob Mamabolo, handed over almost 300 completed houses to the residents of Lady Selbourne, north of Tshwane yesterday.
The area has a history of forced removals.
Mamabolo says residents should not be misled by politicians.
"We want to make a call to our people that they must never accept an offer from anyone except the provincial government and of course accredited private providers to build them houses."
