Stern warning for motorists as festive season approaches
Traffic police have promised to be tough on motorists breaking the law.
JOHANNESBURG - As thousands head to their holiday destinations, traffic police have promised to be tough on motorists breaking the law.
Traffic police have increased their visibility at a number of strategic points countrywide including on the N3 to Durban while Cape Town traffic police have warned of roadblocks.
The Gauteng and Mpumalanga transport departments have also launched their inter-provincial road safety plan for the festive season.
Today traffic officials will have roadblocks along Moloto Road, the scene of many accidents over the past few years.
Gauteng Transport MEC Ismail Vadi says the initiative is also linked to an anti-crime operation.
"It's not just checking of motor vehicles and car licences but vehicles will be searched as part of the anti-crime operation."
