Kruger Park on high alert for rhino poaching
Authorities have called on visitors to report suspicious activities this festive season.
JOHANNESBURG - The Kruger National Park on Friday said it will be on high alert this festive season as rhino poaching incidents spike.
It says it's already lost 750 rhino this year, compared to 664 in 2013.
Officials said they recruited more rangers to patrol the park and would also strengthen detection systems.
SANParks spokesperson Reynolds Thakhuli says, "We are also calling upon our visitors who are seeing anything suspicious to alert [authorities] nearby."
