Buti Manamela sends stern warning on SACP
He cautioned YCL members against hurling insults and intimidating the SACP's leadership.
CAPE TOWN - Young Communist League (YCL) National Secretary Buti Manamela has warned members against hurling insults and intimidating the South African Communist Party (SACP)'s leadership.
Manamela addressed delegates at the YCL's national congress at the University of the Western Cape's Bellville campus.
The league has promised a peaceful conference after its previous congress in 2010 was marred by violence.
Manamela has warned against ill-discipline.
"To conduct ourselves as a party within a party will only invite temporary popularity through newspaper headlines, while severely damaging and diving the SACP and the YCL."
He says they shouldn't follow the example of the African National Congress (ANC) Youth League, which under Julius Malema's leadership, had a bitter relationship with the mother body, ANC.
