Where Instagram and politics collide
With Instagram surpassing Twitter users, EWN looks at the top SA officials to follow.
CAPE TOWN - Instagram, the photo-sharing social network owned by Facebook, has officially surpassed Twitter with more than 300 million users. This beats Twitter which claimed 284 million users in September.
With this in mind, Eyewitness News takes a look at those politicians have taken to Instagram.
Democratic Alliance leader Mmusi Maimane is quite active on the photo sharing site. The charismatic Parliamentary leader has documented everything from his vigorous campaigning during the May elections to his maiden address in the National Assembly.
Minister of Home Affairs Malusi Gigaba is not shy in sharing the fun times he has with his loved ones. His photos are a variety of special moments spent with family, official business trips and, of course, selfies.
Economic Freedom Fighters member Floyd Shivambu loves smiling into the camera with Julius Malema. His Instagram documents his journey with the EFF and its leader. Shivambu also has a blogspot where he explained his middle finger to Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa in Parliament earlier this year.
