Minister: Grade 7 to 9 results depressing
But the minister says results from grades 1 to 6 have improved steadily.
But the minister is still concerned about other grades.
She released the results in Diepsloot this morning.
"The sector is not responding to interventions that we've given. The second year in succession was still under 20 percent in grade nine, which is very depressing."
She has however pointed out that the results in the junior grades, from grades one to six, are steadily improving.
"It's a very healthy upward trend and it's quite clear that we managed to get the traction going through."
Motshekga says they will have to focus more on improving teachers' skills in the classrooms.
