CAPE TOWN - The Democratic Alliance (DA) in the Western Cape has called for an investigation into the conduct of the African National Congress (ANC) members in the Provincial Legislature.

This after the members staged a walk out following a heated debate on Tuesday.

The DA however has described their behaviour as deliberately provocative.

The party's Ivan Meyer claims the mass walk-out was planned.

"The ANC has planned this walkout before the session started, and they were just looking for something to use. But more fundamentally, the ANC lacks substance."

In its defence, the ANC says the walkout happened after Premier Helen Zille undermined the authority of the Deputy Speaker when she refused to withdraw a comment.
