JOHANNESBURG - A thrilling session of extra time saw three goals scored in a matter of minutes as SuperSport United were crowned 2014 Telkom Knockout Champions following a 3-2 win over Platinum Stars.

In front of a modest crowd at Orlando Stadium, SuperSport started the brighter of the two sides although poor execution, on multiple occasions, let them down in front of goal.

Their lack of finishing came back to haunt them as Stars went ahead threw Robert Ng'ambi who struck from point blank range after some sharp work from Eleazar Rogers down the left hand side.

After a penalty was turned down earlier in the half, Gordon Igesund's men were awarded a dubious spot kick for what seemed like a legitimate challenge in the box.

Skipper Clayton Daniels stepped up and converted, taking the teams into the break level at 1-1.

A disappointing second half saw neither saw add to its tally, but it was in extra time where the match turned in its head.

Daniels scored his second, once again from the penalty spot only to watch Mogakolodi Ngele level matters.

Then, with just minutes remaining, Thuso Phala stepped up and scored a beautiful individual goal as Gordon Igesund's troops successfully knocked Platinum Stars off their perch, winning the Telkom Knockout title.
