JOHANNESBURG - Police have now confirmed that a shootout reported at an Orange Farm taxi rank today was due to clashes between two security companies in the vicinity.
It was initially thought that the shooting was another taxi violence related incident.
Two people were killed and three wounded when security personnel opened fire at each other this morning.
The companies have been contracted by a local taxi association to maintain order around the taxi rank near the Palm Springs Shopping Centre.
The reason behind the violent confrontation is still unclear at the moment.
The police' Tshekiso Mofokeng said, "Two security companies contracted to the taxi association started shooting at each other, police are investigating."
