JHB man accused of attacking ex with acid, threatening her life
Police have since opened a case of assault against the man accused of attacking Ines Antonio.
JOHANNESBURG - As the country marks the second day of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children campaign, Gauteng police have confirmed they're searching for a man who allegedly burnt his former girlfriend with acid.
Ines Antonio has accused her former lover of attacking her with acid and threatening her life during the couple's breakup.
Police have since opened a case of assault against the man while Antonio remains in hospital with serious burns.
Gauteng police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini says, "She is currently at the hospital. Police are trying to get her statement."
He says while police have tried to speak with Anonio, she is not in a position to respond.
