Mini tornado rips through Soweto
No injuries were reported, but it’s understood three Protea Glen houses were destroyed.
JOHANNESBURG - No injuries were reported after a mini tornado ripped through parts of Soweto during a severe storm yesterday.
Three houses in Protea Glen were apparently destroyed and over 30 others were also damaged.
Johannesburg emergency services teams will be going back to the area today.
Emergency Management's Nana Radebe says, "We're going to be back on the scene to do a thorough analysis and also to check which houses have insurance and which are not insured."

Forecaster Jan Vermeulen said, "November is our peak month for severe storms. There was a severe storm which caused the tornado, but at this stage we think it's a low intensity one."
On Saturday, another tornado ripped through Vryheid in KwaZulu-Natal:
