CAPE TOWN - An 18-year-old man has been gunned down by a cyclist in Uitsig.

Luciano Davids was shot dead near his Aster Street home earlier today.

His girlfriend told Eyewitness News she believes he was targeted for wanting to avoid being drafted into gangs.

Several floors and walls of number 69A Aster Street are covered in blood.

Davids ran into the house after he'd been shot.He later died in the bedroom.

Davids's pregnant girlfriend Kimberly-Anne Jacobs said gangsters threatened him last week.

"Every time they see me they told me that I must tell my child's father that my child will grow up without a father."

Jacobs believes her boyfriend was gunned down because he tried to distance himself from them.

Earlier this month, 17-year-old Justin Langley was hacked to death in Uitsig after he confronted a group of men he'd accused of attacking a relative.

The boy's uncle, Barend Langley, tried to protect him during the assault in the early hours of 9 November but was also attacked.

He later died from his injuries.

Eyewitnesses say the two were mutilated with an axe and a homemade claw-like weapon.
