Kelly Khumalo punts new single, won't discuss private life
Khumalo called a press conference at Universal Records in Rosebank to promote her single ‘Asine’.
JOHANNESBURG - Afro-pop singer Kelly Khumalo says she's a working woman who has a responsibility to take care of her two children.
Khumalo was slain Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates captain Senzo Meyiwa's girlfriend.
Video: 'Senzo my number 1 fan'.
Meyiwa was shot and killed while he was visiting her mother's house in Vosloorus on 26 October.
The singer called a press conference at Universal Records in Rosebank to promote her single Asine.
The song is about a woman who is accused of killing her husband and during the court case, she kept saying "it's not me, it's not me" (asine, asine).
Asine is a Venda word for it's not me.
Khumalo told reporters she wasn't ready to talk about Meyiwa's murder.
A suspect was arrested in connection with the footballer's murder but charges were later withdrawn due to a lack of evidence.
Meanwhile, people shared their mixed views on her press conference on Twitter:
Lest we forget, Kelly Khumalo is an exceptional singer and performer. I'd also ask ya'll to focus on the album if I were her.

I've always supported #KellyKhumalo since this whole thing but this presser was not tactical from a PR point of view. Its a futile exercise.

Kelly Khumalo loves attention. I wouldn't be surprised if she came on Twitter after her press conference and prayed in tongues.

Kelly Khumalo lacks direction as an entertainer. That brand needs serious intervention!!!!!!!'
