CAPE TOWN - The newly established Cape Cultural and Carnival Committee has suspended one of its minstrel associations on allegations of fraud.
The Kaapse Klopse Karnival Association is being investigated after allegations of missing lottery funding surfaced.
The committee, established last week, is an amalgamation of minstrel groups, Malay choirs and Christmas bands.
It will organise the end of year minstrel events with the City of Cape Town and provide financial and logistical support.
The committee's Kevin Momberg says this won't interfere with their planning for the upcoming minstrel events.
