CAPE TOWN - A Southern Cape taxi driver is recovering in hospital after being shot by another driver.

It's understood an argument broke out between the men at a petrol station yesterday when the suspect fired two shots at the victim.

The injured man is currently in a stable condition in a George hospital.

The police's Bernadine Steyn says, "When the suspect tried to leave the garage in his vehicle, the victim allegedly tried to force him off the road with his vehicle, the suspect got out of his vehicle, took out his licensed 7.6 millimetre pistol and fired two shots at the victim, who was wounded in the mouth."

This week three people were gunned down in Boksburg on the East Rand in the most recent incident of taxi violence, thought to be linked to rival taxi associations.
