CAPE TOWN - The City of Cape Town's disaster risk management teams are investigating the cause of a shack fire in Philippi.

Twelve people have been displaced after a blaze broke out in the Brown's Farm informal settlement this morning.

No injuries have been reported.

Authorities say at least 300 homes were gutted in separate shack fires across the peninsula in recent weeks.

The city's Wilfred Solomons-Johannes says, "The fire destroyed all the personal belongings of the people that resided there. Disaster management teams are on scene providing assistance to affected communities."
