JOHANNESBURG - AB de Villiers made 91 off 88 balls as South Africa posted 267/8 in the fourth One Day International (ODI) against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

De Villiers won the toss and chose to bat first.

The Proteas made four changes ahead of their must win game by dropping fast bowlers Morne Morkel and Vernon Philander for the match.

The top order failed to perform, as both opening batsmen went cheaply.

Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock went for 18 and 17.

Faf du Plessis only scored 28, with the score at 77/3.

De Villiers then steadied the ship, by smashing 91 runs, and putting together a 122-run fourth wicket partnership with David Miller who scored 45.

Pat Cummins and James Faulkner both picked up two wickets each, with Mitchell Starc, Nathan Coulter-Nile and Glenn Maxwell taking a wicket a piece.
