Nobel Peace Summit moved to Rome
Several laureates cancelled their trip to SA after the Dalai Lama was apparently refused a visa.
CAPE TOWN - It's officially been announced that the Nobel Peace Laureate Summit will now be held in Rome, Italy.
The announcement was made yesterday following the cancellation of the event in Cape Town last month.
The 14th annual summit will now take place in Italy between 12-14 December.
Summit organisers announced yesterday it had to relocate the event after a number of Nobel laureates cancelled their attendance.
This, after a debacle erupted around the apparent reluctance of South Africa's government to grant the Dalai Lama a visa to come to the country and attend the conference.
Several Nobel Peace Prize winners boycotted the conference after the Dalai Lama eventually cancelled his trip.
Government has denied it ever refused the Tibetan spiritual leader a visa.
