No arrests after Manenberg shootout
Police and gangsters in the area were involved in gun battles for several hours on Sunday evening.
CAPE TOWN - Police visibility has been increased in Manenberg following a gun battle between officers and gangsters.
Policemen were attending to a complaint of a shooting in Sabie Road last night when gangsters opened fire.
Manenberg police's Ian Bennet says when police arrived, a group of about 15 gangsters opened fire on them.
Nobody was wounded in the gun battle, which lasted for several hours.
Manenberg is among several Cape Town suburbs that continue to be plagued by gangs.
Police say two groups, the Jesters and Americans, are at war in the area.
Official say no arrests have been made in connection with Sunday night's incident.
