JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng Human Settlements MEC Jacob Mamabolo is currently in Bekkersdal, where government will be cleaning the township, improving the sewage system and handing over land for a secondary school.
The service delivery improvement plan is aimed at rebuilding and upgrading Bekkersdal after a series of violent protests before the 2014 General Elections.
A community hall, council offices, business hubs and a clinic were among the properties destroyed.
Mamabolo says this is only the beginning of the 'turn around' project.
"The donation that the two mining companies, Gold Fields and Mupane Gold are donating a piece of and are committing to make financial resources available to build a school. We've upgraded the sewer network."
