Letsholonyane cautions Bafana to take it one step at a time

JOHANNESBURG - Bafana Bafana's most-capped member of the current squad, Reneilwe Letsholonyane, has cautioned his teammates not to look beyond Sudan, but take each game as it comes.

South Africa hosts the Sudanese on Saturday in the CAF Orange Africa Cup of Nations 2015 qualifier at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

Letsholonyane has cautioned his teammates to approach the remaining matches one step at a time.

"We have two games coming up. We have to take one at a time. Let's deal with Sudan first before we can think of Nigeria. We don't want to get ahead of ourselves.

"Sudan is a very good side, they can play well, so we have to be at our best to defeat them. We have to repeat what we did when we visited them so we can come with the same result, and that is what is on our minds, a win and nothing else."

He was not part of the squad that travelled to Sudan for the first leg, but is confident Bafana can improve their home record in these qualifiers.

"Yes we haven't been winning at home, but we have been working on that at training and we will get it right. We managed to score five goals on the road which shows we can really find the back of the net, now it's for us to do the same when we play at home."

The midfielder is on the verge of joining the elite list of players who have reached the half century mark of appearances for the national side.

If selected to play, he will join the likes of Lucas Radebe, Mark Fish, Doctor Khumalo, Shaun Bartlett, Benni McCarthy, Siyabonga Nomvethe, Siphiwe Tshabalala and Teko Modise.

He is currently sitting on 49 caps.

The second and final qualifier will be against Nigeria in Uyo on 19 November.

Kick-off for this weekend's fixture against Sudan is at 3pm.
