Boland farmworkers call for better job security
Farmworkers say they still face a number of issues relating to the national minimum wage.
Some farm labourers participated in public hearings in Paarl at the weekend on the national minimum wage being carried out by Parliament's labour portfolio committee.
Nosey Pieterse, of the Building and Allied Workers Union of South Africa (Bawusa), says there are a number of issues that need to be addressed.
"The enforcement of that payment of that national minimum wage is problematic. The other issue that we face is still what we refer to as illegal deductions for rent and electricity."
