Teacher injured in Hanover Park shooting

CAPE TOWN - Police have confirmed a teacher was injured in a shooting incident at a Cape Town school.

Stray bullets fell on Parkfields Primary School in Hanover Park yesterday, with one bullet hitting a classroom door.

The Western Cape Education Department says pupils and staff at the school will receive trauma counselling.

The police's FC van Wyk says, "Gunshots were fired in the vicinity of a primary school in Hanover Park. A stray bullet went straight through the window of a class as she was presenting her lesson. Pieces of glass from the window injured the teacher's face. She is receiving medical treatment."

Ten people have died in alleged gang-related shootings in Hanover Park over the past two weeks.
