CAPE TOWN - Three foreign nationals have been arrested during an abalone bust worth an estimated R3 million in Philippi in the Western Cape.
The Fisheries Department joined police in a raid of an illegal processing plant at a Philippi warehouse.
The Fisheries Department's Lionel Ardendorf says "During the raid we arrested two Chinese nationals, one Congolese. We have confiscated 5,200 wet abalone units, and around 14,000 dry abalone. We have also confiscated equipment used at the illegal drying facility."
