CAPE TOWN - Disgruntled Hanover Park residents say they're claiming back their community after several fatal gang-related shootings in the area.

Hanover Park is one of several suburbs in the Western Cape that has for years been plagued by ongoing gang violence.

In the latest incident, a man was gunned down on Tuesday.

The local Community Policing Forum's Ebrahim Abrahams said, "We're having a march on Saturday. We're going to gangsters to make it known that we're taking back the community. The request is for them to abstain from shooting. The community and the police are together on this".

Meanwhile, a community member says she saw children involved in a separate gang shooting on Wednesday.

"When I looked out of my window I saw a child of around 10-years-old running with a gun."
