JOHANNESBURG - The Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) says all power should now be restored to traffic signals in the city after a technical fault at substations in City Deep caused widespread outages.

A substation in a Johannesburg suburb experienced problems on Tuesday, plunging parts of the city into darkness.

The JRA says technicians worked into the night to fix the fault at the Prospect substation, which is one of the three bulk intake stations in Johannesburg.

Operations Manager Bertha Peters-Scheepers says their department wishes to apologise for the inconvenience this might have caused.

"The Johannesburg Road Agency would like to apologise to commuters for the frustration and congestion on our roads."
