CAPE TOWN - The National Institute for Crime Prevention and the Reintegration of Offenders (Nicro) is encouraging companies and businesses to employ ex-convicts.

Nicro has launched a project which aims to help rehabilitated offenders get jobs.

The institute's Jacques Sibomana says most former offenders are stigmatised.

"We're looking for companies to find people who are interested to work for them or who are interested in offering opportunities for ex-offenders to work. We're trying to access employment and trying to reintegrate them into the community and affording them more opportunities on how they can get employment."
