Transport Dept to make e-toll representations
The department will make its representations to the review panel today.
PRETORIA - The Department of Transport says it will set the record straight on the e-tolls issue today when it makes representations to the Gauteng e-toll review panel.
The department's Tiyani Rikhotso says it will close information gaps and correct misrepresentations made to the panel.
"It will be important for us to fill whatever information gaps that may exist and provide whatever form of clarity is required by the panel."
He says Transport Minister Dipuo Peters will deliver the opening remarks.
"The department is expected to make its presentation from a policy making point of view."
The panel is expected to make its recommendations by the end of the month.
The National Treasury is scheduled to address the panel tomorrow and the South African National Roads Agency Limited has been set down to make representation on Thursday.
The panel was set up by Gauteng Premier David Makhura to assess the socio economic impact of e-tolls on motorists.
