CAPE TOWN - Police say no arrests have been made following an armed robbery at a Montague Gardens electronic store.

Robbers hit the LG store early yesterday morning.

This is the latest in a spate of incidents in which armed robbers have held up shops across the Cape.

The police's Thembinkosi Kinana says the group of armed suspects managed to flee with equipment and an undisclosed amount of cash.

"Yesterday morning four armed suspects overpowered employees of an electronics shop in Montague Gardens. Employees were opening the shop when the suspects forced the staff into the back room."

There have also been a number of armed robberies at shops across Gauteng in recent weeks.

National Police Commissioner Riah Phiyega has established a task team to try and apprehend those responsible.
