Metrorail arson attack 'was planned'
The Cape Chamber of Commerce says an arson attack at a Metrorail depot in Salt River was planned.
CAPE TOWN - The Cape Chamber of Commerce and Industry believes a recent arson attack on train carriages in Salt River was no random act of vandalism.
A suspect arrested after 19 train coaches were torched at a Metrorail depot at the weekend is expected to appear in court this week.
The chamber's Janine Myburgh says they believe this was a planned act.
"The vital question we must now ask is about the motive for the attack and who or what organisations are behind it. Perhaps even more important is whether there's a connections to the recent arson attacks on the Golden Arrow busses."
