CAPE TOWN - Labour Court Judge Anton Steenkamp has dismissed the urgent application brought by eTV Chief Executive Marcel Golding.

Last week Golding brought forward an urgent application to stop a disciplinary hearing against him for apparently buying shares without board authorisation.

Steenkamp has ruled against Golding, forcing him to face disciplinary action.

The judgment follows an urgent application brought by Golding to challenge his suspension as executive chairman of eTV's holding company, Hosken Consolidated Investments (HCI).

HCI claims Golding bought R24 million worth of shares in electronics company, Ellies, without board approval.

Golding hit back, saying the disciplinary action follows months of editorial interference by HCI in support of President Jacob Zuma's government.

But Steenkamp has ruled in favour of HCI, saying his suspension is lawful.
