Province fans earn bragging rights

Western Province fans continue to celebrate following their team's win at Newlands yesterday.

CAPE TOWN - Western Province supporters are probably still celebrating after their side's Currie Cup triumph.

Province were crowned 2014 Currie Cup champions following a nail-biting 19-16 win over the Lions at Newlands in Cape Town last night.

Province fans partied well into the night, celebrating their team's win.

"It's awesome."

Another fan described it as "absolutely awesome."

Lions supporters, on the other hand, went home disappointed.

"It's terrible. I think it was a close game but I was hoping that Lions would win."

But Lions Captain Warren Whiteley says Province deserve to be champions.

"They played outstandingly well. They put us under pressure. They put the points on the board."

Western Province Coach Allister Coetzee says to win the Currie Cup at Newlands is something special.

"Winning this one at Newlands was special."
