JOHANNESBURG - The Johannesburg Gay Pride Parade on Saturday marked its 25th year with a colourful celebration through the streets of Sandton.

Hundreds of people from the gay, lesbian and transgender community took part.

Sandton's Mushroom Park was a festival of colours, music and dance on Saturday afternoon as hundreds of people took to the streets in celebration.

One woman says more needs to be done to ensure equality.

"We are not free until we are all equal. I'm here with all my friends celebrating and all proudly gay."

This activist believes people should change their mindsets regarding corrective rape.

"If anyone thinks they can correctively rape someone and change them, they're actually doing more damage."

The event was attended by gays and lesbians from all walks of life.
