Colourful head gear and eccentric clothes and shoes marked the occasion as hundreds of people celebrated their sexuality.

Joburg Gay Pride has been a fixture on the local gay and lesbian calendar for 25 years.

One of the event organizers says they have made some strides in educating people about being homosexual, but some attitudes still need to be changed in order for gay and lesbian people to live peacefully with their heterosexual counterparts.
