CAPE TOWN - Former Western Province captain Tiaan Strauss says Nizaam Carr will play an integral for the Cape side as they look to claim their second Currie Cup title in three seasons.

Carr was an injury worry ahead of the game but was passed fit just in time.

Strauss says Carr has been very important to the team's success so far this season.

"It's important that Carr plays because he's been playing really well. It's good news that he's playing."

Meanwhile, former Lions wing James Small says the Gauteng side must try to silence the intimidating Newlands crowd.

"Silence is golden. If you're playing in front of a quiet stadium then you're doing your job right, but they should also enjoy the moment. They've worked really hard to get into the final."

Kick-off is at 5pm.
