CAPE TOWN - Western Province took a 13-0 lead into half time, in the 2014 Currie Cup final at Newlands Stadium in Cape Town.
The first half was played at a frenetic pace, as both sides hardly kicked and ran the ball at almost every opportunity.
According to the scoreboard though, It has however been all Western Province in the first half.
Western Province centre Jaco Taute though getting the only try of the first half.
The first points of the afternoon went to Western Province flyhalf Demetri Catrakilis, slotting two penalties in the first 10 minutes for a 6-0 lead.
On the 14 minute mark, Lions flyhalf Marnitz had the chance to put the Lions on the scoreboard, but put his penalty attempt wide.
The often accurate Lions number 10 was finding it difficult kicking from the tee, as he missed his second penalty goal attempt on the 30th minute mark.
Jaco Taute's 35th minute try came after some great work by the Province forwards to secure the ball in the Lions 22, after which the ball was moved quickly down the backline, before Taute dotted down.
Catrakilis' deadly accurate boot added the extras, and Province lead 13-0
The Lions changed goalkickers, as Ruan Combrinck instead had a go at a penalty attempt on the half time hooter.
That kick, a third Lions penalty goal was also put wide as Province took a deserved 13-0 lead at the interval.
