HARARE - President Robert Mugabe is chairing a meeting of his politburo today with the ZANU-PF apparently in turmoil.

Mugabe's wife Grace has called on Vice President Joice Mujuru to step down and asked why she herself can't stand for the presidency.

This politburo meeting has been put off twice and there's intense speculation as to what will come out of it.

Grace has this week made unprecedented attacks on Mujuru and even called on her to resign.

It's not clear how far Mugabe has approved those attacks and he has so far been silent on the issue.

But a spokesperson for the party confirmed on Sunday that the politburo would have to discuss the allegations made by the first lady who has voiced her support for a faction opposed to Mujuru.
