Gavin Hunt to come face-to-face with former club
Bidvest Wits will play Supersport United in the Telkom Knockout this Saturday.
JOHANNESBURG - Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt will go up against his former side SuperSport United this weekend when the two sides clash at Bidvest Stadium on Saturday.
Wits will be looking to bounce back from a 2-0 defeat to Polokwane City in the quarterfinal clash and ahead of the game, Hunt has spoken about the significance of his team playing another fixture so soon after the defeat.
"I always feel it's very important to play after a loss as quickly as possible, even after a win you want to play. For me, as I have always said, I don't think we play enough football in South Africa. It's very important to play every two to three days. The rest of the world does it, so why can't we do it?"
The game will see Ryan Chapman and Sameehg Doutie sit out due to the loan conditions the two sides have regarding the players.
SuperSport coach Gordon Igesund admitted the decision saves his side the trouble of being embarrassed by their own player.
"This loan business about a player not being able to play against you is a difficult situation because you don't have a player and then he soon plays against you - he might come back to punish you."
In other matches, Mamelodi Sundowns host Amazulu and Orlando Pirates close off the day with a home game against Ajax Cape Town.
