Four suspects nabbed for Ga-Rankuwa prison truck ambush

JOHANNESBURG - Police have arrested four suspects who ambushed a van carrying awaiting trial prisoners in Ga-Rankuwa.

Police say the suspects are part of a group of gunmen who attacked the police van that was transporting 28 prisoners to the New Lock Prison on Friday.

Sixteen of the inmates were re-arrested shortly after the ambush, but 12 of them are still at large.

Police spokeswoman Doniah Mokhutsane says the four men are facing charges of attempted murder.
