JOHANNESBURG - As Mpumalanga police interrogate four suspects arrested for shooting African National Congress (ANC) Member of Parliament Jackson Mthembu, the ruling party has applauded crime intelligence for the swift action.
The gang was also found in possession of 30 stolen cellphones and 28 cloned credit cards.
Mthembu is in a stable but serious condition in hospital after he was shot outside an ATM on Sunday in Emalahleni.
Police are trying to establish if the gang can be linked to other crimes.
The party's Zizi Kodwa said, "This won't only give the impression that they do good work, but it will discourage crime in the country."
The arrests were made following information received from public.
